    One of the reasons linux is faster then windows in a lot of corners is
    because everything you do and see is loaded into RAM, regardless of how
    much memory you have linux will eventually consume it all. As i type
    this my workstation has 2GB of RAM with 99% utilization.

    This topic has been touched on before on this list, i would search the
    list archives for a deeper explaination if thats what you want. This
    topic pops up fairly frequently so there shouldn't be much trouble
    finding it.
