    $ lsmod
    You should have modules =
    #
    snd-emu10k1 84900 0
    snd-rawmidi 18080 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1]
    snd-util-mem 3096 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1]
    snd-pcm 84772 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-emu10k1]
    snd-page-alloc 9716 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm]
    snd-timer 19300 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
    snd-ac97-codec 57932 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1]
    snd-seq-device 5976 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi]
    snd-hwdep 6144 0 (autoclean) [snd-emu10k1]
    snd 46020 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss
    snd-emu10k1 snd-rawmidi snd-util-mem snd-pcm snd-timer snd-ac97-codec
    snd-seq-device snd-hwdep]
    soundcore 6500 8 (autoclean) [snd]

    If you use KDE is arts disabled and what is in modules.conf,did you need
    to reboot.Sometimes alsa modules replace oss modules only on reboot as
    rmmod can not remove them.
