    In an earlier post you said that the ethernet would not activate until
    you connected your modem. In my experience adsl does not activate until
    the modem is connected and a connection is possible.

    What I have done with adsl using sbc is as follows (you need the
    rp-pppoe package but that is part of FC1 and FC2).

    1. connect the modem
    2. run adsl-setup (put in the required values)
    3. run adsl start

    This has worked flawlessly for me on several installs.
    YMMV

    One thing to note is that if that ethernet adapter is activated by
    anything else, or if gateway/dns info is put in by some other config
    then likely the adsl connection will fail.

    One other caveat ..... SBC does not support Linux. Thus, if you are
    doing a new install you will need to first connect with WinBlows using
    their software to set up the account and to get the username and
    password information required for the connection. After that the Linux
    config "just works".
