    Many thanks for the replies. I was able to build /boot and /boot2 with
    two grubs, but unable to get the BIOS to load from the second when the
    first was down (other than by manually changing the boot drive).

    Real hardware RAID, such as 3ware, costs more than I would like.
    I found some interesting cards from HighPoint.
    http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/sataraid.htm
    They come with open-source drivers for linux, and claim that their
    BIOS code will do redundant boot. Anyone have any experience with
    these "RocketRAID" boards?
