    Hi,

    I have a new FC2 w/kernel 2.6.8-1.521 on an Athlon 1900+.
When I try to run up2date 4.3.19 to update many packages,
it gets as far as showing
"Testing package set / solving RPM inter-dependencies",
and after a few seconds of heavy disk activity, hangs,
taking almost no CPU, with the progress bar blank.
No error messages are displayed, and other applications
    continue to run normally.

However, if I select a small subset of the packages,
the update does not hang and the updated packages will
install and run ok. For example:
    Select all updates -- hangs.
Select updates starting 'a' through 'd' -- hangs.
    Select 'a' -- ok. Select 'b' -- ok. Select 'c' -- ok.
Select 'd' -- hangs. Select half of 'd' -- ok.
    Select remaining 'd' -- ok.

    In /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources, I had edited
the yum fedora-core-2 and yum updates-released-fc2 lines
to point to speedy local mirrors. Also commented out
the yum-mirror lines to ensure download from known
sources. I am in Paris and presently using ftp.crihan.fr .
When it works, it is amazingly fast (> 700 kbytes / sec.,
almost the limit of the 6 megabit DSL line)! However, as
a test, I tried other mirrors, clearing out /var/spool/up2date
    each time, to no avail.

After mnay repeated attempts, all updates eventually got
installed. Surprisingly, 'p' through 'x' went in one shot,
even though this involved more packages and much more total
data than cases that would fail.

    Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks,

    Stewart
