Not off the top of my head. I don't have an ICQ account myself, but I do
have an AOL IM account (and I think AOL own/run/whatever ICQ now) and I
can use that to IM friends on ICQ (and have done many times).

I don't know, never having used licq. Could it depend on whether the IM
conversations are directed via a server, as opposed to some sort of P2P
fashion? I assume that when I IM a friend on ICQ it all takes place via
an AOL server.
