    Alexander,

    Yes I
     cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.8.1
     make mrproper
     cp /boot/.config-2.6.5-1.358 .config
     make oldconfig
     make xconfig
     make
     make modules_install

    When the script runs depmod after all the INSTALLs I get the same
    torrent of unknown symbols I got originally.
