Last night I tried installing FC3 for x86_64 on a system using
an Asus AV8 Deluxe motherboard with a Seagate SATA drive. I'm using
the Via SATA port (part of the VT8237?), with the Promise SATA ports
disabled.
The DVD install process appeared to go fine, but every attempt to
boot from the hard disk results in a hang at the "GRUB Loading
Stage2..." message.
If I boot the DVD in rescue mode, it finds the installation and
mounts everything under /mnt/sysimage without difficulty.
I've searched the FAQs and mailing list archives and have not come
up with any idea as to how to proceed. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
