    It is a matter of choice. I have used both KDE and
    Gnome. For the Fedora Core 2 machines I used to run
    Gnome and it worked great., I have updated/upgraded to
    Core 3 and KDE is the default desktop. I can use
    either one, but one thing that I miss was the Gnome
    with Fedora Core 2, as I prefer that one over the
    Gnome with Core 3. I really liked that version and
    settings.

Yes, I suppose gnome is installed, when dealing with fedora you get it even if you specifically request at install time that it use KDE, and even uncheck the gnomish stuff, and even then it set gnome as the default and then did not install switchdesk, so I had to do that too before I could make kde work. ...
