We never had a problem with courier-imap. The problem it has with
thunderbird is due to tbird's wanting to open one connection per
subfolder opened. That can be remedied by changing the maximum
connections per IP courier will accept.

I prefer courier-maildrop to procmail for two reasons. First, its
language is far more comprehensible to me than procmail's. Second, its
support of virtual domains is better than procmail. In any event, I can
build them from source.

I get cranky when I start seeing disk space taken up by mp3 or ogg
files.
