I've got two boxes, both with the ATI drivers from Livna driving the ATI
9200SE card. Both worked very well in FC3. One box was upgraded to FC4 and
continues to function well with the updated kernel-module for the FC4 kernel.
The other box became a fresh FC4 install. This one has a number of issues -
watching the boot, there's no attempt to probe the fglrx module; when I try
to access the ATI settings window I get an error dialog which states, in
part,
"Driver does not provide the FireGL X11 extensions! Panel components will
operate only partially."
The panel will open but most of the settings functions aren't displayed.
I've removed both the driver and kernel-module several times but
re-installation yields the same result. There's no help for this issue on
Livna. Searches on google for that error weren't helpful.
I seem to remember this working after the FC4 install, and I seem to remember
the trouble starting perhaps after the glibc update, recently - but my aging
brain cells could easily be wrong on this count -
Any one else get this and figure it out?
