    Hi,
I'm haviong trouble using tar to backup to tape.
I have FC3 (last updated on 22nd July) with an HP DAT 72i tape drive. This was
installed and working fine since March this year. Just recently (could be
coincidental with the update), backups have been failing. This is a 72Gb tape
drive, and it is reporting 'no space left on device' after backing up just
    2048 bytes.
I have run the HP diagnostic tool and all tests pass. Also, I have cleaned the
drive, usedf new and old tapes.

There are no entries in /var/log/messages relating to the backup failure.

I have tried a raw write using dd, and that aborts after a couple of Mb of
    data.

/proc/scsi identifies the drive correctly (along with the Adaptec SCSI card).

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks.

    Stuart.
