---- hmmm...I probably haven't done software RAID since RHL 7.x and obviously lilo and didn't know the difference but I vaguely recollect issues with booting from LVM. On these 'stock installs' that you refer to - there are 2 options...1 is to auto partition and setup and the other is to do it yourself - which presumes a little on knowing what you are doing. http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/sysadmin- guide/s1-raid-diskdruid-manual-devmnt.html curiously, this says that if you put /boot into a RAID array, it must be in a RAID 1 configuration only but it doesn't say anything about choosing lilo - I wonder if anaconda does this automatically if you put /boot into a RAID 1 array...
