Has anyone else had the problem with gaim leaving behind
a whole lot of processes?
I started gaim 6 hours ago, and already I have 173 processes
listed as "gaim" under 'ps ax'. Each of these seems to require
a good amount of memory too.
Afew lines from top:
20654 hk 15 0 34600 14m 9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
20739 hk 15 0 34600 14m 9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
20759 hk 16 0 34600 14m 9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
16358 hk 15 0 34592 14m 9.9m S 0.0 1.4 0:37.29 gaim
20465 hk 15 0 34604 14m 9.9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
20468 hk 15 0 34604 14m 9.9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
20486 hk 16 0 34604 14m 9.9m S 0.0 1.4 0:00.00 gaim
Datapoints:
-I only use the MSN functionality.
-It seems that only one of the processes actually uses cpu time.
-I run gaim-1.5.0-1.fc4 under FC4.
-Have had this problem ever since this gaim version came out.
-Gaim will not exit by itself, after a while X asks wether I
want it killed.
-Running kernel 2.6.12-1.1398_FC4smp

Every day for weeks I have to do a 'killall -s9 gaim' after about
7 hours, or else programs like evolution and firefox dies due to
lack of memory.
