Sorry about the poorly-titled subject. I realized after I had posted that I
wrote it was 'Root login fail' but I have already fixed that problem. I
"fixed" it by trying the password in all CAPS, and that worked out. But the
machine is still impossibly slow. Definitely huge room for optimization.
