This is basicly what I did and rebooted, except I swapped card-0 to be
the intel-8x0, and card-1 to be the emu10k1

Unforch, there is a utility called system-config-soundcard, which does
apparently detect both, but wants to use the same driver for both.
Switching the driver around and doing a test of the sound always
results in the test sound coming out of whatever card is card-0. And I
don't see it (re)writing any known config files with the results, so
methinks that utility is busted.

There also appears to be an alsaconf utility, but its not capable of
handing two cards, only the one you select. The other is apparently
disabled.

People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word
'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's
stupid bounce rules. I do use spamassassin too. :-)
