If you're having the (what we suspect is a) prelink issue described at [1],
you can get around the main sympton by creating a symlink in /usr/bin to
/usr/share/eclipse/eclipse . The startup.jar symlink isn't necessary.
If you are having other issues, try temporarily moving ~/.eclipse out of
the way. Also, we will need more information (preferably at [1]) if we are
to go further. Post the output of the following at that bug:
uname -a
which java
java -version
rpm -q --querformat="%{name}-%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}" gcc \
gcc-java java-1.4.2-gcj-compat{,-devel} eclipse-platform
