Following up on my last comment, I have now apparently managed to
throw off the vestiges of sleep that were evident last night and have
bitten the bullet. This involved experiementing with the BIND
configeration GUI, having first of all put all of the IP
configurations into /etc/hosts. All I had to do was to import the
/etc/hosts and (voila), my FC4 box can now see all the other PCs on
the network.

The next job is to ensure that I can do the same thing with only
wireless connections, before I move the PC's to another room to allow
for re-furbishing the study.
