U may google "Virtual resolution" and other keywords. Even try a search
in this list, the problem is discussed in various contexts many times.
desktop is larger then the screen size, and you scroll by trying
to move the mouse off the screen in the direction you want to
scroll. In xorg.conf you can set it in the screen section to
something like 1024x 768 and scroll the visible part of the desktop.
I am not sure what the setting is in xorg, but you used to be able
to set edge resistance to control how easy it was to start
scrolling. I had not used it in a couple of years, so I don't
remember the exact settings.
