In sound production from a CD first you have to mount it. I saw in the
release notes that in FC5 removable media would not be configured for
mounting automatically. Bu t now I see I am having trouble mounting
audio disks at all. What does this all mean and what are we supposed
to do? auto does not work for the type of the audio cd. What type
should we use, or is this a really stupid question.

Audio CDs aren't mounted. Only data CDs are mounted. A data CD can
contain MP3 files or other audio files that you can play, but I
assume since you mentioned "audio CDs" you don't mean that.

You just insert 'em and if a CD player doesn't start automatically,
you start one up from the menu.

That is what I observed but neither the standard gnome cd player
claims there is a device error or totem opens and says it can't play
the CD. So I am a little confused. You are right that the CD appears on
the desktop but does not seem to be accessible.
