Re: USB thumb drive questio

Make sure the automounter daemon is running in the services gui. Start and
stop that service and see if it allows it to mount.

Can you post the output of the 'mount' command? Are you running SELinux?
Otherwise I am thinking that there may be something specific to tell it to
do in a 64 bit environment, mount-wise, like with regards to block size for
example.

Also try
ps -ef | grep usb

to see what else may be interfering, usb-wise. No brainer, but I am
assuming you have no other devices plugged in at the moment.

Also, is this the only usb device that has a problem? Do you have another
usb device to try, preferably a usb hard drive or another thumbdrive just to
see what happens?

Hi Marc,

Stephen, first check whether it is already mounted under /media. Look
carefully, as it may appear as just another hard drive.

If it definitely isn't there, run 'fdisk -l' to see what name it has
been
given (sda, or whatever) then mount that under /media. You may have to
do
that as root, with obvious problems. If you can do that, I'm sure
someone
will be able to tell you what to do to get user access to it.

It might be simpler to run dmesg after inserting the device, or "tail
-f /var/log/messages" before inserting it, and see what (if any)
device file is assigned.
