I don't have the service in my usr/bin, nor even
when i su to root... i
press serv and tab and all i get is servertool and
others... how do i get to
use the service command?

serivice rcscript start|stop|restart
is a shortcut for
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rcscript restart
to save time/keystrokes.

[olivares@localhost ~]$ su -
Password:
[root@localhost ~]# service --help
Usage: service < option > | --status-all | [
service_name [ command | --full-restart ] ]

To list the services available do an
ls /etc/rc.d/init.d/ -l

you should get something like
