Hi there, please excuse me; I am totally new to this product. I have
installed FC1 to my desktop with absolutely no problems. It came with my
textbook for my Unix class. Now I am trying to install it on an extra
laptop that I don't use. It was a new hard drive so it is the only thing on
it. It is an IBM A21P 850Mhz, with 512 ram and a 15 inch monitor. It
installs fine, but it stops at the monitor and I'm not sure what to pick?? I
don't see anything in the documentation and nothing in the BIOS. I guessed a
couple times and when it boots up the X window fails. I get "bad mode
clock/interface", hsync out of range, fatal error, no screens found.
Does anyone know what I should pick for a monitor and what range I should
pick?
Re: Display Adaptor - cant install? ... but the monitor I'm using is a DELL 2001FP 20" monitor and the display "stutters" when I scroll or move items on the desktop. ... Went to dell.ca and got the proper drivers for that monitor - but the directions to install same have me stymied. ... Oh and a quick look at the Display item in the System> Device Manager shows that the box is currently running a driver named VGA-VGA ??? ... (microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware)

In any case, based on your post, I did a clean re-install of 10.3 and made sure to set the res to 1024x768 at the end of the installer config setup. ... So at this point thinking there is something in my hardware that 10.3 didn't like, I went out and bought a cheap nvidia geforce2 mx 400 agp card.... Did a new clean install to make sure that it was picked up right, and after all that I still did not get x, only the command line showing runlevel 5. ... (SuSE)

Turned out the fix was a breeze though... ... ad install the latest G4 firmware update off of support.apple.com ... 2007, the Adobe Design Premium suite, Camtasia and more on Windows....
