adding users

Okay, I'm just back from vacation and my brain is rusted shut from all
the salt water from the Outer Banks. I have never needed to do this so
I'm at a loss. I need to add a local user to a system that authenticates
via LDAP. When I run adduser, it just sits there. I don't need the
user in LDAP, or I would just add it there. I think the issue is PAM
related, but don't know how to fix it?

Any help?
