Are you sure that's all necessary? I have a ipw2200 system which just
worked with the new kernel without doing any of that.
The only thing to do is to upgrade the firmware version fron 2.4 to 3.0.
In the above link the drivers are upgraded, mainly to fix different bug
important in the case of the author...
