FWIW I got this plug-in to work (like a charm).

You need Scipy 0.4.8 (newer versions do *not* compile on FC5).

I got it here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scipy/scipy-0.4.8.tar.gz?download

Followed (most of) the instructions here:
http://www.scipy.org/Installing_SciPy/Linux

I didn't copy anything to usr/local - just did 'python setup.py
install' as root. You'll need to go grap some coffee after that
one.....

The instructions there are for FC5 and I'm on FC4 on this box. They go on to
say

For other distributions, see [WWW] the unofficial instructions by written by
Steve Baum.

and following that link involves fetching subversion packages.

Do I need to remove the fedora scipy package that I already installed?

Do you think I need to follow the instructions on the 'Other distributions'
page?
