I think the first problem appeared when you chose not to let Grub handle the booting.
It would have been much easyer to let Grub to be written to the MBR.

I would do the following:
- boot into rescue mode from CD/DVD
- mount the root partition of yout linux installation
- chroot into the mounted system
- add the following line to /boot/grub/grub.conf :
title Windows
rootnoverify (hd0,1)
chainloader +1
- do not forget to change "hd0" if your windows installation is not on the frist partition
- run "grub-install /dev/hda", replacing hda with another device if needed
-done

Or you could try running the normal installation again and choosing the "repair" option and let it install Grub to the MBR.

I modified the boot.ini file in Windows and then when I rebooted my machine, I was able to see 2 OS options: 1. Windows 2. Linux.
However, now, when I click on Linux, GRUB loads and I am not sure what command to type into it. Also the reference materials I have looked at haven't been much help at all.
Could you please let me know what I should do next to see the Linux OS running and still maintaining the dual boot of Windows and Linux.
