Intel DG965 motherboard, Core 2 Duo & FC5

I have a new Core 2 Duo (6400) system with a DG965RY motherboard,
1GB RAM & a NVIDIA 7600 GT graphics card. I've tried to do a standard
install of FC5 with the 200608 respin but it crashes because it
can't find a driver for the DVD (I think -it's not specific on what
driver it can't find).
Googling this problem seems to indicate that one needs the
2.6.18 kernel to support this motherboard and its associated
NIC, DVD, etc. I know that some of 2.6.18 has been ported back
into 2.6.17 but I can't see any support for this board.
Question: Are there any current/in development kernels that
support this motherboard - if so which?
