No message with kopete.
When I go in Setup->Devices->Device, there is nothing in the list.

Did you start it from a terminal?
Yes of course ;-)
That usually gives you messages while it
is working.
No message, but I never use kopete, so there is no setup.
you choose you will need to run some setup or config option, or how will it
find your camera? When I had problems I did find that running the various
video apps from a terminal brought me some clues.
