Can you 'look at' (open) the DVD? Does it show one large file named
<something>.iso or directories with files?

In other words did you copy the ISO to the DVD? Or did you burn an ISO
image to the DVD? You should have done the second one and you should see
directories and files.

Hello David,

Yes, I was able to successfully burn the iso image to the DVD disk
and I do see the files and directories. By the way, I took this same
disk and put it on a Dell Laptop of a friend of mine and it was able to
boot the DVD successfully. So I think that it may be something on my
laptop - perhaps the bios (it was previously set to boot from the
CD-ROM). Perhaps it is the bios - but I don't know what it is for
sure. When I put it in my DVD drive, it doesn't not boot to the DVD but
instead goes to a normal boot up. This laptop is about four years old
and originally had a combo drive (CD/DVD-ROM).

Jeffrey, the colour of the burned disks is not important - it's just the brand
of media's choice. What may be important, though, is that it is a DVD+R.
Many older drives can read one type, + or -, but not the other. Have you
tried burning it to a -R?

(I have to admit that I didn't think of that when I had the problem with my
old laptop.)

I'm sure many people have successfully burned the iso to dvd. I certainly
have.

Anne
