Appears that you said QEMU can only run unmodified quests.
That is not true. QEMU can create new VMs. I am have one
that I created with QEMU.
Both are free.
QEMU is slower, but GPL.
VMWare is (much) faster, but it's close source and as
such, if it breaks, your own your own. *
