SWITCHDESK(1)
SWITCHDESK(1)

NAME
switchdesk - graphical and text mode interface for choosing
desktop
environment

SYNOPSIS
switchdesk [desktop name]

DESCRIPTION
switchdesk provides a simple method of choosing between the
various
desktop environments available under Red Hat Linux, including
GNOME,
KDE, and FVWM2. If X Windows is running, switchdesk will bring up

Right. However, switching desktops does not have anything to do with
switching display managers. The former provide the desktop UI; the latter
provide a graphical login manager. One can use a KDE desktop with the
GDM display manager or vice-versa. The choice of display manager does
not necessarily dictate one's window manager or desktop environment.
More to the point, the original poster was asking how to switch from
GDM to KDM.
