GCompris too big for screen

Here is a question from my 5yo.

When using the GCompris suite of games (Games->Games for
Kids->Educational Suite GCompris) the games extend out beyond the
screen. If the mouse is moved to the edge, the game pane scrolls
leaving whitespace. Not so bad for the older ones, but causes problems
for the 5 and 8 year olds. If Tux Paint is accessed from GCompris, X
hangs until GCompris is killed, but this leaves the screen at the
undesirable resolution for all apps. If cleanly exited, screen
resolution returns to normal.

The system is FC6 on a PII400 with a Samsung Samtron 55E normally
running at 1280x1024 from a VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies
Inc 3D Rage IIC AGP (rev 7a)

The kids say Ta in advance.
