I got an email from Mr. Cox who suggested I find the proper rpm file
on my DVD and install that over the bad update version which is Volume
Control 2.16.1 and so I looked and found the package
gnome-volume-manager-2.15.0-2.fc6 and put it on my desktop. Then I
tried rpm -U gnome-volume-manager.xxx and it errored out saying a
newer version is loaded :-(
Wrong package. That one's to do with disk drive volume managing
(removeable drives, etc.). You want to play with the RPM that I
mentioned earlier on: gnome-media
How to work it out:
[tim@gonzales ~]$ which gnome-volume-control
/usr/bin/gnome-volume-control
[tim@gonzales ~]$ rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/bin/gnome-volume-control
gnome-media-2.14.2-1
I did that on FC5, so ignore the version numbers, but the package name
is the same.

(This box runs FC5, my others run FC4 & FC6, in case that's
important to the thread.)
Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored.
I read messages from the public lists.
