have been updated since the "video" playback last worked ?

Well I am not sure when it stopped failing, so it is hard. But one of
the addresses is simply a .mpg file which plays with mplayer. I fixed it
it in firefox by telling firefox not to use the plugins but to use
mplayer. I will have to work on it some more. npr audio is even more a
mystery since I set up realplay to play it and it has worked until now.
