Re: alsamixer wont come up properly, cant adjust volumes

hey,

I'm using one sound card, the one integrated on my asus m2n-mx motherboard. The only messages in the log concerning alsa say the driver has been loaded. Also I should note that when I'm setting up fedora 6, the sound test doesn't work. It has in the past (one speaker only, but thats why I had to go into the mixer and turn up the volumes for the different channels) but I havn't changed my hardware configuration since that time. I dont get it.

Which installs would these be, installs of what?

Do you have more than one sound card? There is another thread on the
list about the problems that can cause if order not specified.
The wrong card can become default.

If that is the case, see that thread for modifications to
your /etc/modprobe.conf. Google should find it if you also put in
fedora-list or it should be at

http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general

Are there any messages in /var/log/message.log about this problem?

Otherwise, give us more information.

"uname -r" output

cat /proc/asound/version output

aplay -lLv output.

amixer output
