unable to copy dot prefixed files to Apache powered WebDAV shares

Hello All,
I am running Apache/2.0.52. I have WebDAV enabled on certain
directories and I am able to read/write regular files in the WebDAV
shares.
However if I try to upload a file that has a filename prefixed with a
dot (e.g: .temp .pine etc) the upload fails. And I just get a 500
error in the access logs and no info in the error logs.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Thanks
saqib
