# hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep IDLE
* IDLE_IMMEDIATE with UNLOAD
It seems this is the drive attribute that is responsible -- the * means
the feature is enabled. Basically the drive is going to pull the heads
off the media when IT thinks it is idle.
I didn't see how to turn it off yet.
