I used to use a 5740 and now have a 5750. Since about FC5 all you have
to do is set up the modem device through system-config-network. Define
a new modem, point it at /dev/ttyACM0, put the number to dial as #777,
the username your phone@xxxxxxx address and the password as vzw. You're
done.
No messing with scripts or any of that silliness.
