Many (probably most) of the folks on this mailing list use and deal with
multiple computers. There are two F8 machines beside me right now, and a F8
laptop in the next room. Plus another general-purpose machine in the basement,
and a fileserver. And a thin client terminal.

That's just what's sitting here right now. Add remote machines that I
administer, and new machines that are brought to me to set up and customize for
various purposes and you can see where this is going.

The smolt profile for my main desktop computer won't tell you much about any
issues that may come up on the nifty quad-core machine that's supposed to be
delivered here next week for me to set up for a client.
