What is the " 2" doing at the end of the command-line?

You missed one line in what you pasted into the email: the actual command that made this output. Without that info, it would seem that you accidentally appended a ' 2' to the command you wrote at the command line.

i dap [drag and paste] term in kde desktop, to a file linked to desktop. after i
drop to file, i look at what was drug and what is dropped. not a line by line read,
but a quick scan between 2.

i also did 'cl >fn'. as to just which file save this came from, i will have to look
back thru.

if this is from a '>', file will not show cli. if dap, it will be there.

my awareness of '2' was when i opened files to review for post.

It might be in your history if you are interested:
$ history|grep thunderbird

now that you have brought it up... excuse me while i check.

i knew my 'history' was clean, but wanted to see what if any was in '/var/log'.
which there was nothing.

2 of 3 directories i pulled tbird to are still on this system. 3rd is not.

Nice to see the 'yum install blah' worked after all ;)

i have been enjoying learning how well yum works and what it does.
