Yes sir! :) Pretty much Tom Horsely answered the thread much better than IBy default Fedora uses NetworkManager to connect tonetworks both wired
and wireless. You can change things manually, but itis much easier to
let NetWorkManger do it for you :)

advise is to do
the same as what Tom mentioned
(that works) it is fine to have NetworkManager. Although it is
# service NetworkManager stop
# chkconfig NetworkManager off
# chkconfig network on
# service network start
I had occasion to use NM last week... it's the same POS

On a laptop in which one has both a wired network and a wireless network
a pain when
dealing with protected networks. Sometimes one has to retype
the password(s)
to known networks.

How to make this work, please?
You could look at audit2why and audit2allow, as well as the SELinux
policy for RHEL/CentOS (though I don't know if BackupPC is handled in
that policy or not).

Bob,
Try installing in Text Mode, from release notes it says :
LVM Unavailable in Text Installs
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/f9/en_US/sn-disk-druid.html
Try that. Hopefully that let's you install without LVM.

Look around the partitioning tool, you'll see that some things sit on
top of others. Remove them in the right sequence. This is easy if
you're dedicating the whole drive to Linux, you can try removing each
part, one by one. Be careful if you're trying to keep something, though
(e.g. dual-boot systems).
I installed 9 on one box that way. I let it have LVM on a laptop I'm
playing with, I figured that I wouldn't have anything other than
settings that need keeping on the laptop, so being able to rescue things
isn't a priority. I don't know if we've got any good tools for
recovering from LVM problems yet.

Taking a deeper look at things, I noticed that hub 1 is a version
2.0 hub, and hub 4 is a version 1.10 hub. These are both internal
hubs, so I wounder if they are using the same socket? Could it be
that the high speed hub (v2.0) tries to talk to the device, and when
it can not, it hands it off to the full speed hub (v1.10)?
USB starts off with version 1, at the slowest speed (the lowest common
denominator), then sees if it can shift up speeds and to using version
2. This appears as the host device changing from 1 to 2, not just the
thing plugged into it.

Would it be pretty easy to get the modules (ricoh_mmc and dependencies)

thing i wanted to do was just put syslinux on the USB drive since it will
boot to that, but not the card reader, and then actually have the livecd

The end result I'm looking for is to be able to plug in the USB thumb

It's just so darn easy to remove/break the usb drive off when moving

Richard,
It doesn't get easier as they get older. I have a 28 month old and a 5
year old both liking the computer. The 28 month old has found the KILL
switch in the back of the computer for the power supply. And my 5 year
old always wants the computer when I would like or need to use it for just
a short time.
You should be able to use a FAT or V-FAT partition. Windows should still
like those file systems and they may be easier to integrate into the
kernel than the NTFS support.

Looking at the totem.desktop file, I don't find it listing cdda in the

them, though it (movie player) is on the right-click list when I browse
through the psuedo-tracks in Nautilus. I didn't have an audio disc
handy when I responded, last night.
Can you get totem to play audio discs, manually? I can't through the
play disc menu entry in the program, but can through the + button to
browse for a file, and I can externally.
If you can, it would seem that you've added a plug-in for it, and that
should add to the list of MIME types it can accept.
Totem would seem a terribly bloated application for playing an audio CD.

Bob, choose manual partioning with disk druid. Check the box: "Allow
me to review and make changes" or something like that. The you'll be
able to see a single VolumeGroup that includes the Logical Volumes.
Delete, first the Logical Volumes then the VolumeGroup. After that,
create at minimum the following partitions: /boot, /, /home, and a
swap partition. It depends what you wanna use the box for. If it is a
desktop the previous scheme will work if it is a server use /boot, /,
/tmp, /var /usr and a swap partitions.
Personally I use LVM on my boxes on a couple of desktops like this scheme:
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol02 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0
The advantage with this scheme is that I can easily resize my Logical
Volumes when I need it without any disturbance and in an easy way.
Think twice before that advantages/disadvantages of LVM before going
for a classic partiton style. I even use LVM on an itranet I use on my
job for almost five years and it works beautiful. Again, it depends
what are you gonna use the box for. Regards

http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html You need to go to
different pages to get the drivers for printer, scan and fax.
From memory I had to install the brother drivers first, but hal stillcreated an entry in the printer list itself (a thread last year
discussed this). Take care to follow the correct sequence ( lpd driver
before cups driver) and all should go well. A current thread discusses
how to handle any SELinux denials.
Printing is working fine for me, faxes fine, scans as root but am
working on getting it for users, works USB or network but haven't tried
