Hifollowing
How to enable syntax highlighting in vim? I tried to put "syntax on" on
/etc/vimrc and on my "~/.vimrc" and does not work. I have the
vim packages installed:I have this in my ~/.vimrc
[root@newt set_new_machine]# yum list installed vim*
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Installed Packages
vim-common.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
vim-enhanced.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
vim-minimal.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks
Marcelo
:syn on (note the semicolon)

and it should work, also if you want the gui version of vim, do
$ yum install gvim
