I need to use ssh to transfer data between a PC and a notebook, both
with Fedora 11, but the result is, from notebook to PC:
$ ssh xx.xx.xx.xx
ssh: connect to host xx.xx.xx.xx port 22: No route to host
$ ping xx.xx.xx.xx
From xx.xx.xx.xx icmp_seq=11 Destination Host Unreachable
From xx.xx.xx.xx icmp_seq=12 Destination Host Unreachable
From xx.xx.xx.xx icmp_seq=13 Destination Host Unreachable
From PC to notebook there is no response.Please can anybody help me?

host command on the ip.address and see if it is identified. I assume you
can reach other sites. It sounds like the networking on one of your
machines is not operational, What does networkmanager say?
Hi all,
First of all I want to say a huge thank you for your messages. As I do
not understand sometimes very well what are you talking about, I'm going
to give you some basic information that I understand.
The network I'm using is in a research institute, so I'm not on the
control of the network connection, and the machines aren't directly
connected by a cable. I can ping to other machines and connect to other
sites, the problem is when I ping from one to the other, as I said in my
first message.
[german@centauri ~]$ ping localhost
PING centauri.das.inpe.br (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from centauri.das.inpe.br (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64
time=0.038 ms
64 bytes from centauri.das.inpe.br (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64
time=0.042 ms
64 bytes from centauri.das.inpe.br (127.0.0.1): icmp_seq=3 ttl=64
time=0.043 ms
^C
--- centauri.das.inpe.br ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2851ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.038/0.041/0.043/0.002 ms
The same result is obtained when I ping localhost in the other machine
(the notebook). The network is operacional on both machines.

[german@centauri ~]$ sudo service iptables status | egrep ":22 "

I hope this can help you.
