Why does this ALSA config no longer work in Fedora 12

The following ALSA config enabled the recording of played sound

pcm.copy {
type plug
slave
{
pcm default
}
route_policy copy
hint {
description "copy/record to file"
}
}
It is no longer working, any ideas as to why?
