Hello all,
My desktop machine does not log in under gnome using 2.6.32
kernel. No error in /var/log/messages or Xorg.o , just a complete hang
I need to reboot.
The previous 2.6.31 kernel is fine.
I can log in level 3, but with graphics mode, I get to type in username
and password and a few seconds later it freezes.
Any ideas?
Do you have nvidia graphics?
You boot to run level 3 by adding a 3 to the end of the kernel boot
grub line. Log in, then try running 'startx'
That will probably hang.
I've read of the kernel 2.6.32 having issues with some machines with
nvidia graphics.
Try adding
iommu=soft
to the grub boot kernel line.
