The only way I find to configure GDM is to switch to KDM :-).

This configures the KDM login screen not the GDM login screen which used
to be confiogurable. It is true you can use Gnome from the GDM screen.
yum install kdm
echo 'DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE' > /etc/sysconfig/desktop
Edit /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc to configure as desired.

(Note, this does not make you run KDE desktop, you can
still login to any kind of X session you want, gnome,
kde, or otherwise).
