I could not find any direct way to get at the last umount time but I
wonder if this is recorded in the /var/log/messages file ?

I thought perhaps that syslog would "catch" umounts and record them to
/var/log/messages. Obviously not by default. I was hoping someone would know if
there is facility|level for syslog.conf for this. I couldn't identify it (if
exists). I still believe that 'something' stores umount timestamps. I have a
client who wants these recorded. Arrrrgggghhhhh!
