sound applet starts off

Hello,

I'm using a debian distro and now i'm moving to gnome 2.12; and i have
this issue (never happens before)

Whenever I login, the sound applet (using gstreamer) starts with NO
volume, and i always have to start the volume control to tune up the
PCM gauge to have any sound.

anyone knows why this happening?.
