Practically every movie site, and theme site, calls
desktop backgrounds,
"wallpaper".
Just because Microsoft chose to use that term, and
everybody is following, doesn't mean we should.
OS X doesn't even use a term in the preferences,
except in the desktop context menu, where is says
'desktop background'.
The fact that it says "Wallpaper" is
not confusing. The
fact that it says "Add" is. And in more cases than
not, "Add" in the
file chooser dialog is much more confusing than "Add
Wallpaper" in the
main capplet UI.
So, no, the style guide is in fact, not clear
enough.
Fair enough.
Parts of the style guide are outdated and refer to
things not seen since GNOME 1.
I plan on reviewing it after 2.14.1 is out.
It now has a component on bugzilla, under gnome-docu.
Please file a bug :)
